FINDERS ARE NOT KEEPERS, The Law Protects the Owners

Just because someone finds something does NOT mean it is yours. The Civil Code provides that lost property is always the property of the original owner.
✅ If you know who it belongs to → you need to give it back to them.
✅ If the owner cannot be identified then turn it over to local authorities following due process.
Failure to return or report found property properly could be illegal. The law doesn’t pay to keep what is not yours. Report any items that may be found in an appropriate manner and, if in doubt, contact legal advice to ensure that you are doing the right thing.
