Novation — Renegotiate or Settle Debt

Under Civil Code Articles 1291–1304, you may modify, reduce, or fully settle a debt through a new voluntary agreement. Terms can be adjusted, amounts lowered, or deadlines extended. A valid novation binds both parties and may end the original obligation.
