As of Today, R.A 7581 (Price Act) Remains in FULL EFFECT.

Price gouging, price hoarding and profiteering are prohibited and illegal at all times and particularly during periods of calamity, emergency or public need according to the provisions of Republic Act No.7581. No seller, merchant or supplier shall hike the price of food, water, medicine, and other prime commodities unreasonably including basic necessities of life. An unjustified rise in prices, refusal of supplies to affect market prices and over-pricing amounts are all unlawful and will attract the legal penalties that apply.
