Contract is only made if there is free consent. Unless you were forced, threatened, tricked or misled into signing — then your consent was NOT free. The Civil Code of the Philippines provides that contracts may be rescinded or invalidated based on the following grounds of voidability or invalidity: intimidation, violence, fraud, undue influence (under Article 1330). If you are not giving the signature willingly and knowingly, your signature is not a valid signature. There is no real bond that one cannot break without consent.

Many believe that once you marry, you must set aside your maiden name and take on your husband’s surname — but that is simply NOT the law!

Your name is part of who you are — your identity built over years. And the law respects that. You may keep your maiden name fully and permanently, if that is what you wish. You may choose to combine it with your husband’s, or use his surname in whatever way you prefer.

Whatever you decide — the choice is entirely yours. No requirement, no pressure. Your name, your identity, your decision. ⚖️

Price gouging, price hoarding and profiteering are prohibited and illegal at all times and particularly during periods of calamity, emergency or public need according to the provisions of Republic Act No.7581. No seller, merchant or supplier shall hike the price of food, water, medicine, and other prime commodities unreasonably including basic necessities of life. An unjustified rise in prices, refusal of supplies to affect market prices and over-pricing amounts are all unlawful and will attract the legal penalties that apply.
